1982 SMITH & WESSON MODEL 36-1 “Chief’s Special” RARE 3″ Barrel, AS-NEW In the Box The 1982 Smith & Wesson Model 36-1 “Chief’s Special” is a highly collectible variant of the iconic .38 Special J-frame revolver first introduced in 1950. The 3-inch barrel provides a longer sight radius and significantly better recoil control than the standard 2-inch snub-nosed models. Built during the final era of classic S&W manufacturing, this specific 1982 piece is highly sought after by collectors for its brilliant, factory mirror-polished nickel finish combined with a traditional square-butt configuration clad in checkered wooden S&W logo stocks. It is considered rare today because the 3-inch barrel variant saw much lower production numbers, and a pristine nickel finish from this time frame represents a apex of mid-century “wheelgun” aesthetics. This example is in AS-NEW condition and shows no evidence of use or of handling marks. Ships 100% complete in the original serialized box and includes the factory manual and all paperwork, including the unopened factory tool kit.  Please see photos for item condition and details and don’t hesitate to contact us directly with any questions at [email protected]
