This 1969 Smith & Wesson Model 10–5 with a 4-inch blued barrel is as a premier example of mid-century S&W craftsmanship, and was built on the medium-sized K-frame platform. This specific “dash-five” variant is highly regarded by collectors for its iconic, tapered “pencil” barrel profile, which provides a beautifully balanced weight distribution in the hand compared to the heavier bull barrels that followed. The firearm’s exterior is a rich, deep, high-polished carbon steel bluing and complements a color case-hardened hammer and trigger. This vintage S&W features a pinned barrel at the frame junction and a frame-mounted firing pin directly riveted into the hammer nose—desirable features that were later phased out to simplify manufacturing. The sights consist of a fixed half-moon front sight blade and a square notch gutter rear sight routed directly into the top strap. In the 1960s-1970s, the Model 10 revolver was a mainstay of standard-issue law enforcement sidearms. Although this beauty does not come with it’s box or paperwork- it is in far higher condition that most guns available today in this vintage. The bluing is in excellent condition, the barrel is bright and shiny with strong grooves and it has but a few small imperfections.
