1978 COLT PYTHON, 6-shot, .357 Magnum revolver with a 6″ barrel with a beautiful original Colt “Royal Blue” finish. The most popular of all of Colt’s iconic ‘Snake Guns” was first introduced in 1955. Almost every firearms Collector and enthusiast around the world considers the Colt Python to be finest handgun ever produced. The design, construction and finish of the Royal Blued Python far eclipsed it’s competitors when it was released over 65 years ago, and remarkably, that still holds true today.  The quality of these original Pythons, with their hand-fitted assembly and exhaustive hand-polishing will never be duplicated.  The recent introduction of inferior machine-made copies has only pushed the value of the original Pythons higher. This particular example is in very high condition, with only the slightest of handling marks present. The hand-polished Royal Blue finish is beautiful and easily rates at 99%.  Take a look at the photos and you will see- the finish on these firearms is amazing. The original walnut target grips are also in outstanding condition with sharp checkering throughout. These  late 1970s “V Series” Pythons are prized by Collectors, because they come from the Golden Age of Colt Craftsmanship. These firearms were not only hand-assembled and hand-tuned, these guns were also hand-polished. One Colt employee was responsible for polishing each Python. Sometimes up to eight hours of polishing was necessary for a single Python- in order to achieve the iconic Royal Blue finish. We often see confused sellers refer to other Colt models as having a “Royal Blue” finish- but they are mistaken. Only the finest handgun in the world wears the famous Colt Royal Blue.
