1978 COLT DIAMONDBACK 6-shot, .38 Special revolver with a 4″ barrel and a gorgeous original blued finish. In 1966 Colt introduced another member of its famous series of “Snake Guns”, the Colt Diamondback. The Diamondback was intended to be a premium quality adjustable sighted revolver that would resemble the popular Python. The new Diamondback had a wide, long, grooved Target hammer, Target type walnut grips, Colt “Accro” adjustable sights, and a barrel that looked like a Python barrel- and was in fact built on Python machinery. In the last decade, Diamondbacks have become highly sought after and Collectors are hard pressed to find them today in high condition. Mint condition Diamondbacks that are complete in their original boxes have just about evaporated from the marketplace in recent years. This particular gun is in spectacular condition and shows no evidence of firing or use. It comes to us from a longtime customer and collector and looks just as it did when it left the factory 47 years ago. The original factory walnut target grips are pristine, and have sharp checkering throughout. The finish on this weapon is practically flawless, and has obviously been well cared for. If your collection is missing the elusive Diamondback- here is a perfect example of one of the most popular and collectable “Snake guns” ever produced.
