1976 COLT LAWMAN, UNFIRED, 6-shot, .357 Magnum revolver with a 4″ barrel and a spectacular original blued finish. The Colt Lawman was first released in 1969 and was built on Colt’s new smaller “J” Frame. The Lawman featured newly designed coil springs and a revolutionary “transfer bar” ignition and safety system. In this new design, a flat steel lever or bar, would rise up between the frame mounted firing pin and the hammer when the trigger was pulled. When the hammer dropped, it struck the transfer bar which in turn struck the firing pin to ignite the cartridge. This also acted as a safety system to prevent the gun from firing unless the trigger was pulled. Today, these revolvers are prized by Collectors, having only been in production from 1969-1983. This particular example is in extraordinary condition, and we believe it has not been fired since it left the factory. Although the cylinder has been turned, this beauty hasn’t seen a round since our Nation’s Bicentennial. A close examination of the cylinder face reveals faint powder burns only on alternating cylinders- the tale-tale sign of a factory test fired revolver. The finish is deep and inky and the walnut target grips are 100% perfect, without flaws of any kind. Vintage Colt Lawman revolvers in high condition have now become scarce, and it is very rare these days to find one, especially in unfired condition. This beautiful collectable Colt revolver is destined to be a centerpiece in someone’s Colt collection. It ships 100% complete in the original factory serialized box and includes the manual and all factory paperwork.
