1998 S&W MODEL 686-5 .357 COMBAT MAGNUM, six-shot .357 Magnum revolver with a 2.5″ barrel and a beautiful factory stainless steel finish.  Smith & Wesson introduced the Model 686 in 1981 as the stainless steel version of the Model 586. It was chambered for .357 Magnum and .38 S&W Special +P calibers. The Model 686 was built on S&W’s square butt L-frame, and features an adjustable rear sight, a full under lug barrel and a 6-shot fluted cylinder. This Combat Magnum also has a serrated ramp front sight, with a red insert and a plain blade S&W Micrometer adjustable click rear sight. It features a case-hardened steel semi-target hammer and a case-hardened steel smooth target trigger. This gun appears to be hardly handled, much less fired. There is only the faintest of turn lines on the cylinder. This beauty clearly shows to be in “As-New” condition, and ships in the original serialized S&W factory blue hard case and includes the manual and other factory paperwork.
