SMITH & WESSON MODEL 36 “CHIEF’S SPECIAL” , .38 Special revolver with a 2″ barrel and an almost flawless original factory nickel finish. The Model 36 was introduced in 1950 and over the decades has proved to be one of the most popular “snubbies” ever produced. Built on the popular “J” frame, and chambered for the versatile .38 Special cartridge, the Model 36 was instantly embraced by Law Enforcement and civilian shooters alike. Weighing in at just 19.5 ounces, the Model 36 was easy to conceal and as a result  was often used as a back-up gun by Police Officers throughout the US.  The Model 36 also has desirable features no longer available on todays modern machine made guns, like a hammer-mounted firing pin and a pinned barrel.  This particular gun is in extraordinary condition and has been fired very little, if at all since leaving the factory. The original nickel finish is just like a mirror- with very few light handling marks, easily rating at Collector’s Grade. The original walnut service stocks are absolutely pristine, and are serial numbered to the gun. This beautiful “old school” Smith & Wesson revolver  ships  complete in the original factory serialized box along with the manual and other factory paperwork.
